Hello!
My name is Mingyür Dorje and I am a Tibetan Buddhist
practitioner from the Black Country region of the United Kingdom.
In the early 1970's I was tremendously inspired by the wonderful writings of the late Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche.
I subsequently studied with various teachers, including a seven-year
period as a close student of Ngakpa Chögyam (now known as Ngakchang Rinpoche), who himself studied under
H.H. Khordong Terchen Tulku Chhimed Rigdzin Rinpoche. I continue to practice and to study under and receive transmission from internationally acknowledged Buddhist and Dzogchen Masters.
Mingyür Dorje is my refuge name. When a person first becomes a
Buddhist in the Tibetan tradition it is common to be given a new
name, known as a refuge name. This is because you take refuge in
the Triple Gem: The Buddha, the Dharma (the path of practice and
study), and the Sangha (community of practitioners). The new name
symbolises the start of a new life as a Buddhist practitioner.
My birth name is Mike Beddard. As a teenager I felt strongly
that a personal spiritual discipline should somehow be harnessed
to helping other people in a practical way. This together with my
fascination with human organisation led me to study and work within
the field of voluntary and non-profit activity, focusing particularly
upon community organisation and research. In 1990 I gained a Master
of Philosophy degree from Manchester University, England, based
upon original research into the management problems of non-profit
organisations. For the next 14 years I worked as a freelance Community
Organisation & Research Consultant with Black Country communities .
For many years now I have been doing Mo for friends and acquaintances and
for other people who have requested it. I have had the opportunity
to see at first hand how much Mo can help people. To read testimonials, please click here. Mo is an incredibly
powerful tool which can help people to significantly move on in
their lives. In the Fall of 2000 whilst in Seattle, I asked a well-known and respected visiting Tibetan Buddhist Lama of the Gelug school
if it would be ethical to offer Mo as a paying service to people.
He replied that it would be fine as long as I made allowances for
people who have no money. He also said that it would be helpful
if wealthy people could have the opportunity to pay more, thus allowing
them to build good karma. I requested a Mo from him to find out
whether such a venture would be successful. The answer from the
Mo was that the chances of success for such a venture were excellent.
So this is the basis of my service to you, if you want it. Mo
with Mingyür Dorje is intended primarily as a beneficiary service
rather than as a mainstream commercial enterprise. This means that
whilst we all have to pay for what we want, I am always willing
to enter into discussion with you if you feel you need my help but
genuinely cannot afford it. Conversely, if you can easily afford
my charges I ask that you offer more - this helps you to develop
positive future results (‘good karma’) for yourself and also helps
me to offer this service to those who cannot afford it.
Whether you use my service or not, thank you for visiting my website,
may you have a long and happy life, and may you help others in their
wish to do the same.
May all beings know no suffering!
May all beings be happy!
